TROUT FISHING: Why do the fly fisherman get to fish the streams of Pierce and other counties 2 months earlier than most of us other fisherman that have to wait until the season opener the first Saturday in May? I have had this discussion with many o…
Hi:
I moved to Balsam Lake from Ellsworth, WI 27 years ago come April 1st. I basically was born and raised on the Rush River and have the Mississippi flowing in my vains. Lots of you knew my Brother "Ratz" and we hung out quite a bite together fishing and hunting the Rush and the Missisip. Over my last 27 years in the Balsam Lake, WI I wa able to purchase some land (100 ac's) near the St.Croix River and it has been a dream come true in hunting some pretty nice Whitetails. I think I have about 10 on the wall now... It's a great place for turkeys too. I went out shed hunting the other day as I leave about 5 acres of corn stand for the deer and I believe I came across a wolf kill on a button buck... Anyway the tracks looked like wolves and some of the neighbors say that they have seen wolves on occassion in that area. Apparently they wonder down the St. Croix River and hang out in that area. The tracks were about 4" across and I just can't believe it would of been a coyote... Anyway I like what you guys are doing and I know there has been a lot of comments on how to do it this way or that way, but dealing with John Q Public, please keep in mind that you can satisfy most of them, but you will never satisfy them all... Trust me on this one, as I have been involved with the public in sales most of my life and have come to that conclusion. Good luck in the 2010 season and keep it fun, and try to keep the competitiveness out of the equasion. I know easier said than done!!!! Again Good Luck!!!!
Guns, Bows, Boats and Poles of mine...Equipment
my favorite rifle is my Winchester 308 with 180grn bullet, shotgun has to be my 1100 Remington auto, my bow is a Parker 3.5 Ultra Lite solo cam w/Carbon Force 3000 arrows, tipped with a 100grn Muzzy's... Fishing rods are anything that I can fish with as I'm not fussy in that department.
My first memories of the Outdoors...
My dad "Dick Hines" going squirrel hunting, fishing, and or hunting for morel mushrooms. We had some great memories for sure...

Hey Gary,
I am from the same lot of Foleys, my dad is Mike, one of Pat's younger brothers. Mom and dad actually just put up a cabin on Big Blake Lake just north of Hwy 8, so I'm sure we will be up around your neck of the woods quite a bit now. I'll look you up sometime when we are in the area and we can get together and shoot the shit! Take care!
Great to have you on the Network Gary! You hit the nail on the head with the whole dealing with the public thing, we've come to that same conclusion while working on the show this season. If you have any questions about the site at all, feel free to look us up. Enjoy!
