Sounds like you are close Mike, the Maxxis is one sweet bow. One thing to be aware of,if you are shooting the same arrows @70lbs as you were @65. Your arrows may be underspined, hitting right is tell tale sign of weak arrow spine. One quick easy way to determine this is to turn your bow down 5lbs or so. If the group comes back to the center you need a stiffer spine. Broadheads are very sensitive to spine issues,so you can be underspined yet shoot FP's fine. I don't know what your arrows are (model, size, length) so I am just saying this could be a possibility.

Yes, I do make my own mounts. Thanks for the comment. They are cool and I get a lot of nice comments on them. I will remove as much of the meat as possible, be careful with the tail or it may fall apart. screw or nail them up side down to a piece of wood and cover the meaty areas with canning salt for a week. scrap off the salt and repeat. The wings are bondo in the open position and the tail is hot glued into a slot on the mount sealing them in place. The wings are attached together with a piece of steel with screws into the bondo then mounted to the wood. spurs are super glued to the wood. assemble, hang and enjoy. all my mounts are different. i have the most fun designing them. again, thanks for the comment. if you have any questions I will be more that happy to help if i can. It is a great way to add the final page to your hunt. Good luck

Last week I called in Three birds in two nights in the evening about 7. I had a jake i missed with my bow gobble twice and later a tom came in a little far out and gobbled once. I was set up about 80 yards away from where the roost everynight and i just set up to cut them off coming from the feild. I call very little and fairly quiet and it seemed to work. Last year same thing same spot i shot a tom and there were three others with him and they gobbled about everytime I called. Its hit or miss unless u know where the birds are definetly going to be and if u put them to sleep calling it cant be bad they should be expecting you in the moring.

Hi Mike, after about 3:00 pm I will stop hunting and come out of the field for that reason. I find it hard to get any response from the toms in the evening. Also, not hunting the evenings gives the birds a chance to roost where they want to without any pressure or influance from me. if the birds are not in there normal roost site, maybe a predator had some influance on where they roosted that night. If i was going to hunt the evening i would find a travel route to the roosting area and sit quite and wait for one to just walk by, almost like deer hunting. I have thought about doing this, but i do not want to disturb there evening patterns. I personally would rather wake up in the morning knowing that i didnot disturb form the roost the night before.

Mike, you betcha the turkays will be active in the rain, head for a field as they don't like the dripping woods,as it distorts their senses. They also can fluff out and dry out in a field faster when the rain lets up. If it is a downpour stay home, but be ready to get right out when it quits. I have found right as it quits the toms go nuts,or if it's been nasty for a day or two,the first nice day after they tear it up.

Hey Mike, I place my coys anywhere from 2 to 25 yards in front of the blind, my theory is that they cant be to close. I watched Mike Waddell shoot one out of his blind at about 10 feet right next to his decoy. Hope this helps! Happy huntin! TA

Hey Mike sorry for the delay, Yea ive been bear huntin. A buddy at work runs hounds in northern Wisconsin every year. Wisconsin has a point system for tags, you get one point for each year you send in and it takes 7 or 8 points to draw a tag which equals 7 or 8 years, so its a lengthy process. i currently have 5 points so i will draw in the next 2 years hopefully!
